The Itinerary

A long weekend of art and fun

Flying QantasLink from Sydney on Friday morning and returning the following Monday afternoon the itinerary is designed as a full and dedicated long weekend of sketching and painting, plus lively discussion and debate.

 

Day Activity
Friday

Arrive early afternoon via QantasLink. Greeted and transfered to Arajilla Retreat. Several hours available to settle in. Meet the Artist Team Leaders, who will conduct a lecture and discussion on "The meaning of art, life and the universe". Evening at leisure.

Saturday

In the morning there will be either an inside or outside workshop where participants get to know their entire group. This session acts as an Orientation – talking about art techniques, painting styles etc. Artists/participants pair off.

In the afternoon groups will explore with pads and pencils/charcoals. The group(s) head out with their artist to find a subject and to sketch for three to four hours. In the evening after a three-course dinner, an art film to be shown and discussion had over drinks.

Sunday

All day sketching or painting (dependent upon artist/participant preferences) on location in a beautiful Lord Howe Island outdoor setting. In the evening after a three-course dinner, another art film to be shown and discussion had over drinks.

Monday

After breakfast an early start with paints or pencils for a 3 hour session of painting or drawing to either complete your work or do another, or a group discussion with artist on each participants work.

Board your QantasLink flight back to Sydney arriving late afternoon; or stay for a day or two more at Arajilla Retreat soaking up the atmosphere.
